For over 100 years, Shamokin Carbons’ family of companies have been innovators in the carbon industry. Our companies continue to grow and innovate. We have a strong legacy and a bright future.

1924

Anthony Rosini and his sons start Rosini Hauling, a transporter and marketer of deep-mined anthracite coal.

1933

Evoldo, Odone and Reno Rosini (Anthony’s sons) purchase land in Treverton, PA, build a dry anthracite screening plant and start Rosini Coal Co.

1945

The Rosini brothers purchase land in Coal Township, PA and build a modern “wet” breaker to process deep-mined anthracite coal.

1952

Rosini Coal Co. expands its operations by starting to mine its own coal.

1954

Rosini Coal upgrades its breaker facility to handle increased tonnage from its own mines.

1957

Don A Rosini and William J. Rosini (sons of Odone and Evoldo) enter the business and start Shamokin Filler Co., Inc. by constructing a drying and grinding facility to dry, pulverize and package anthracite coal for sale as a dielectrically resistant filler to the battery industry.

1963

Shamokin Filler expands by adding a 60′ long rotary dryer and a new bagging facility.

1966

Shamokin Filler introduces Carb-O-Cite as an anthracite additive for the glass industry. Carb-O-Cite eventually becomes a standard carbon additive for glass manufacturing.

1984

Rosini Coal expands its mining operations by purchasing a strip mining job in Kulpmont, PA from Kerris & Helfrick Coal Company.

1986

Shamokin Filler expands into the graphite business by installing the first ever graphite pelletizing plant.

1990

Rosini Coal Co. is sold ending the Rosini family’s activities in mining and cleaning anthracite coal.

1993

William E Rosini (son of William J) starts working full time for Shamokin Filler Co. and the Rosini family focuses on building out it’s complete line of carbon products.

1994

Shamokin Filler Co. changes its name to Shamokin Carbons to reflect the broad range of carbon products and processes the Company offers.

1997

1997 Shamokin Carbons starts importing and marketing calcined anthracite and graphitized cokes. Started offering a full carbon series consisting of synthetic graphite’s, natural graphite’s, calcined petroleum cokes, metallurgical Coke’s and blends to accommodate a wide variety of metallurgical and industrial applications.

2009

Don T Rosini (son of Don A) enters the business. Don T and William E take over ownership and management of the Company (4th generation of family ownership).

2010

Shamokin Carbons enters into an exclusive sales agreement with Essix Resources to market carbons to the steel industry.

2011

Shamokin Carbons acquires Mountain Top Anthracite and begins supplying precision sized anthracite to the water filtration industry.

2014

Shamokin Carbons acquires JS McCormick & Co. to expand its metallurgical coke and petroleum coke businesses.

2016

Shamokin Carbons initiates a quality assurance program and attains ISO 9001:2015 quality certification.

2019

Shamokin Carbons signs an exclusive supply agreement with Grafitos Mexicanos, the largest amorphous graphite mine in Mexico.

2020

Shamokin Carbons forms a Mexican company, Alliance Graphite Victory (AGV) and builds a new grinding and packaging facility in Hermosillo, Mexico to process amorphous graphite sourced from Grafitos Mexicanos’ mines.
